Can X-Rays affect your periods?

Hi, I had several x-rays on my chest and knee 6 weeks ago and am now late - I am almost 100% positive I wouldn't be pregnant as we are very careful and use condoms every time.
I just wondered if the radiation would in any way affect my menstrual cycle?

X-rays will not affect your cycle. The radiation is not the reason you are late.

Condoms, alone, are good but they are far from perfect. If 100 women use condoms every time for a year, fifteen will become pregnant. Most condom "failures" are actually sperm swimming around the open end. That is why he should withdraw immediately after ejaculation. I recommend that condom users also use vaginal spermicide.

bugger...
i am always very irregular, but i've just gotten myself into a panic because i can't work out when my last period was. hmmm.
thanks anyway brandeye :)

You English taught US to count up here in Scotland!

Xrays and CT scans only mildly "nuke" (radiate) your ovaries. You should have been covered with a lead shield. All men & women of child bearing years MUST have their abdomen and thyroid shielded during these exams, even at the dentist and they cannot be performed if there is a chance of pregnancy, unless it's life threatening. Always insist on it if the tech does not do it. As Brandye stated it has no effect on the cycle. Just a bit of info for any readers.

thanks guys :)
i had a nasty car accident about 6 weeks ago and suddenly last night i could not remember having a period since and i got myself into a real panic - irrational but i'm in the middle of uni exams at the moment so easily stressed!!
but just at lunchtime i started to get really hideous stomach cramps and i feel like i'm about to start, so i'll delay my mad panic until the morning :)
