bumps on nipples

i have a couple of bumps like tiny spots on one nipple, they're flesh coloured, and they only seem to appear more when i'm due on my period, is that normal or should i be worried?

Normal. some people have very bumpy nipples, some less. I believe they are the openings to glands in the breasts, though someone with actual medical knowledge of this may need to confirm this. From my experience they often become more pronounced when the nipples harden during sex or in cold temperatures, or even during hormonal changes like a period starting. If you squeeze them they may even emit white fluid, kind of like squeezing a pimple (I don't reccommend doing so..just FYI) Unless they become odd colored, start growing rapidly, are painful or start secreting a strong smelling, or colored liquid...nothing to worry about.

aww thankyou so much for your info, you've put my mind at ease. like u say they become more prominent during sex or periods or coldness, thanks =]

Glad to help :)

Brandye may be the one to ask. She has the medical knowledge. Also Sera, sorry that I forgot you and had to come back and edit. LOL
Yet without seeing them anyone may have a hard time determining if there is an issue. I'll ask Sera to read this thread.

I say nothing to worry about unless they grow in size or have abnormal discharge. Breast tissue, nipples, & areolas differ in women and the small bumps you see most often are normal since its your body's way to discharge normal secretions. If you are noticing discharge get it checked, even some slight clear discharge at particular times of the month are normal...if there is pain & swelling or abnormal secretions see the doc ASAP.

Just think about your entire body and all the small sweat glands you never see...they also are on the breast tissue and may be more predominant on one over the other.

Check next time you see your MD or Gyn...and make certain you check monthly by doing regular breast exams. These are important. Any lumps get to a doc ASAP.

PC:

Please don't squeeze the bumps...that is a good way to damage tissue & cause a problem! Leave them alone & ask your doc during your next exam! If they get larger, painful, redness, swelling, tender, discharge, etc. Get medical attention...you do not want an infection and if they are not discharged correctly or healed they can continue to be an issue...Rule:
Don't play with things you are not willing to loose!

okay thanks! well they're too small to squeeze, just like tiny spots and there's no discharge at all but i'll keep my eye on them and follow your advice, thanks
