Brown bleeding and Emotional craziness?

I have had the Implanon for six months almost and I am an emotional wreck.

I am mad one moment, happy the next, then im crying for no reason at all.

Also, since i have had the implanon, i haven't bled regularly.
I will bleed for an hour or two then nothing or i bleed for weeks at a time.
Even after my boyfriend and i have sex, i bleed.

the bleeding i am talking about isn't the normal red blood though-
its a brownish goo looking stuff.

it has me extremely worried.

are these common side effects with the Implanon?

I just checked the data on Implanon. About twelve percent of women have it removed because of unpredictable bleeding and about five percent for emotional issues. Seems that you are experiencing both.

Perhaps not "common" but entirely too frequent. It seems that the longer the hormone is intended to last, the greater the difficulty with both emotions and unexpected bleeding in some women. The brown colour is a result of "old" blood, the blood that would have flowed last month if the hormones had not prevented it.

Although the implants are intended to yield a rather constant level of hormone in the bloodstream, that is unpredictable and the ups and downs of the levels are what are giving you the emotionality and unpredictable bleeding.

There is nothing to be immediately worried about but you do need to make a decision. How long do you want to tolerate this? Yes, you expected five years of protection and it would be disappointing to have that removed. On the other hand do you want to put up with months, perhaps years, more of the unpredictability.

Discuss this with the prescriber who put the implants in. Some women do adjust after a longer period of time; some do not. If the quality of life is being affected, time to try something different.

even when i do not have implanon i do ahve brown blood and i am emotional. I take loestrin which is birth control and i need to know whats goin on with my body i just had a week of non stop sex with my partner and it was unprotected if so can someone help me.
