bondage tape

Has anyone used any kind of that sticky bondage tape in place of ropes? If so, how well does it work and what brand seems to be the best? Thanks if anyone has any info on this one

Isn't this another use for Duct tape?

Raez,
I have never used tape myself, but I think it looks pretty hot. If you like the shiny vinyl loook you probably like it a lot. Maybe there is a tape community out there somewhere just as there are rope and stell bondage communities. From the searches I have done on the web it seems to be very inexpensive in comparison to hemp rope. Maybe you should just buy a couple roles of two or three brands and decide what you like.

meanwhile here is a video of British bondage performer Esinem's new performance using red document tape.

(caution: social commentary and political content )

I thought the bondage types used velvet rope! Hemp could saw your wristis off and I cannot even imagine tape.

There are different types of rope for different tastes and needs, Brandye. Actually hemp rope, when properly treated, is as soft as or softer than cotton. For fanatics of Japanese style rope bondage hemp and jute (the preferred material in Japan) are all the rage. Many people enjoy the feel of cotton, but it is not recommended for suspension because it stretches. Polypropelene is very soft and works well for decorative bondage as well as suspension, but makes bulkier knots that are more likely to slip.

The bondage tapes that I have seen advertised are made so the tape sticks to itself, but not the skin. Even strict and extreme bondage people are often not into S&M and the pain/discomfort caused by removing masking tape, duct tape and similar products. Also these tapes come in a variety of colors which make them attractive for home play, photography and showing off at parties and clubs.

One of the things that I cannot comprehend is wrapping someone in plastic wrap and calling it bondage. I takes all types suppose.

I usually call that a high school gym prank using the person sized plastic wrap rolls from the trainers office.

So where would one find such tape?

The reason I am interested in tape is basically because I'm not into heavy bondage or S&M.. I just want to use it to quickly tie my or my boyfriends hands together or to the bed or wahtever (Neither of us like the feeling of handcuffs). The tape seems nice to be able to use quickly, as opposed to tieing with ropes, and also the tape I am referring to, unlike duct tape and such, doesn't stick to the skin, just itself (no danger of the tape tearing off your skin! yay). I just wondered if anyone had any experience with it and how it compared to ropes. But yes, you're right dlb, it does seem cheap so it wouldn't really be a waste to get some and just try it out. oh and the video link you sent was good social commentary, solid.

You can also try soft restraints. I have a set of under the bed restraints which are soft and do not hurt. They are very quick and easy to use.

I've used it in a bondage costume for a masquerade ball. It held for a full night of debauchery, so I can only say good things. It's also very comfortable. One word of advice: make sure you get it nice and tight on the first wrap, because as it doesn't adhere to the skin, it can unravel if you aren't careful. Once it sticks though, it sticks.

Thanks for the info Massdebator..glad to know it holds up.. I'm definitely gonna give it a try :D

Clevername I ran a search on the net and there are several online purveyors in USA and UK. If you have a well stocked kink store, not your run of the mill sex shop, in your area you might find it there also.

Yeah, there are plenty of places to get it online and the net provides a vaster array of colors and designs. I do know that both of the better/classier shops that I frequent carry it, just only in black and red.. so if color matters to you you'll have to go on the net. Though I will say, shipping and handling tends to cost more than the tape itself lol.

Anyone know some of the reliable sites to buy it then? I'm a bit shy to go into a store, haha.

Black and red bondage tape! One of the sites I looked at yesterday only had two colors Bitch Ass Black and Punk Ass Pink! Haha. Makes me want to order some just to see the labels on the packages.

Now in all seriousness; it is my duty to remind everyone that if you are going to be tying or taping someone you should ALWAYS have blunt nosed scissors or, even better, EMT shears at hand. At hand means where you can reach them immediately at any time. Whether you are tying someone to the rafters of your kinky cabin in the forest or simply taping your lover's wrists together in the bedroom there is always the possibility of an emergency in which a quick release is necessary.

Be Prepared. Be Safe!

We have always used restraints and you can buy these from almost ANY shop or site. They are quick and easy to use and are soft enough not to cause any discomfort. You should try these.

I have never used tape or rope but my partner has used my silk dressing gown rope before (which was good i hasten to add!)

Failing that its handcuffs all the way!!

Well, my purpose for the bondage tape is very specific.. a particular surprise I have planned, and tape would work the best with the method of...well, capture, for lack of better words lol that I have in mind

I do agree restraints would be a good option for other occasions though.

This is so weird, but for some reason my bf and I both have this neurotic aversion to handcuffs.lol no matter the type, and even though they serve the same purpose as restraints, ropes, tape, etc... There's no logical explanation to it, very strange I know. What strikes me as odd is that we BOTH feel that way, and have even before knowing each other. what are the odds.

Could someone set me straight on what you mean by "restraints" that are apparently not rope, cuffs or tape? Are we talking leather restraints? Chains? Velcro? Straight jackets? I always thought of anything that restricts movement as being a restraint.

raez---Cuffs-police/military style handcuffs are not very sexy for a lot of people. They do lend themselves to very specific role playing. I happen to own a set of leather handcuffs that say, "sexy, naughty fun," in contrast to metal handcuffs which to some might mean abuse and repression.

carla---love the silk dressing gown story. There is an entire sub genre of bondage that involves turning a person's clothing into restraints.

What came to my mind when referring to restraints are these cushy velcro strip kind of things that can be attached to the bed or eachother in a variety of ways, similar to handcuffs but not quite the same. I don't know if that is what Carla was talking about, but that is what I was referring to. You are right though, all these things are forms of restraints, so I understand the confusion.

Yeah, we were looking online at a variety of handcuffs, everything from leather, soft velcro, even fuzzy purple ones.. not one appealed to us. Its very weird because the idea of being restrained, even specifically in an handcuffed style, is attractive to us...just not cuffs themselves. Anything else we feel fine with, ropes, tape.

I too love the silk gown rope story. Its the spontaneity of such things that I think cause the attraction. lol recently my bf and I met up just after he had gotten off work, so he was still wearing his tie.. he loosened it and took it off then used it to quickly tie my hands together, then we had a quick session of it while still mostly clothed, I just happened to be wearing a dress that day lol It was perfect, and soo fun!
