Hpv

I got a question, is HPV spreadable from one person to another? My ex had it and we had sex a couple times without protection, and was wondering if I could get it from her? I got tested, and waiting on the results.

Yes hpv is transmittable between partners, that is why it's considered an STD. I just checked the CDC and the study they had on the site stated that transmission from cervix to penis was higher than penis to cervix. There are different strains of hpv and are classified as oncogenic(high risk) and nononcogenic(low risk). As stated in the link below most hpv strains go away due to the immune response. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I thought a virus never goes away, bur just goes dormant.

Here is the link to the CDC HPV and Men

SOME viruses are killed off by your body and SOME aren't. It all depends upon your immune system.

Ok, well I read up on it and I'm not showing any symptoms of the effects. I hope it comes back negative.

By age fifty more than fifty percent of the population can test positive. It is likely that three-quarters of us have been at some time. Evil's comment above is spot on. If you are exposed in your twenties, the immune system will likely eliminate the HPV; after 30, there is a higher likelihood that it will stay with you. There are more than 100 HPVs. Four of them are related to cervical cancer and there are many that we do not know what they do.

keep in mind that many people do not show any signs or symptoms. a lot of the hpv strains and killed off by your immune response. im curious since the website says there is no official test, what did your doctor do? here is the quote of why i ask, There is no test for men to check one’s overall “HPV status.”

also to reassure you and anyone else that most cases of HPV are not serious to your health. So an HPV infection that is found today will most likely not be there a year or two from now. REMEMBER: HPV is very common. Most men with HPV will never develop health problems from it. Finding out if you have HPV is not as important as finding out if you have the diseases that it can cause.

Let us not minimize the danger: 75% of all cervical cancers are attributed to four strains of HPV.For women, finding that HPV is present is VERY important and is also good reason for the Gardasil injection at a very young age. It may be interesting to look at the history of of the woman's annual checkup. Several years ago, a small plug of tissue was taken from the cervix and this was checked for "abnormal cells." The abnormal cells, of course, were cancerous or, at least, pre-cancerous. Today, a swab is taken from the periphery of the cervix and the test is actually seeking the dna of the four HPVs involved in cervical cancer. This can actually identify the presence of causative factors for the disease rather than the presence of the disease.

Which is why I strongly support using Guardasil.
