Essure, and similar products, have about the same effectiveness as the IUD and slightly less than a tubal ligation. There are gyn's who will not do permanent contraception under age thirty but some will after discussion with you and your partner.
The procedure is quite similar, from the patient's standpoint, as IUD insertion. It is worth discussion with the doctor. I would recommend an IUD.
P.S.: I note from another post that you now have an IUD. Why change?
