I got Mirena put in yesterday and the doctor left the strings just long enough so I can feel them if I reach my finger in while I squat. Unfortunately when my hubby and I had sex, he said the strings were stabbing him. I am calling the doctor tomorrow to have her trim the strings. My question is, how short can she trim them. My husband is big enough to hit or rub up against my cervix. Will trimming the string help in that situation or should I look into a different form of birth control?

Do not make a decision based on one experience. The strings become mre limber over time and will be less likely to poke him. Shorter could make things worse. Talk to the doctor about the advisability of trimming them.
