Changing Pills

Hello

My girlfriend has been on Yaz for 3-4 months now and switched to Gianvi this Sunday (7/19/10) which also happens to be during her period. We were wondering if she is protected right away by the new pill, or if she will have to wait for a period of time before being protected? Gianvi is apparently a generic form of Yaz...but we'd rather be paranoid and safe than sorry
Thank you

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
She is protected. Her body will not know what box the pill comes from and the effects on the body will be unchanged. The pills are pharmacologically identical.

She may wish to discuss with her doctor some of the difficulties Yaz and its sister drugs have been causing.
