Methods of birth control

I want to start taking the birth control shot because it's something i don't have to worry about forgetting to do everyday. My older sister took the shot when she was younger and now she can't get pregnant because her period hasn't started coming back yet. I'm not sure how long she was taking the shot but after looking it up online, it said that the longer you're on the shot, the longer it'll take for your period to come back. This got me to thinking that i should take the shot for maybe a year or two and then switch to the pill. Do you think this would be a safe and smart decision?

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
I have more patients with difficulty on the shot, or following the shot, than on any other form of hormonal birth control. The next in line of problems are hormonal systems that space the periods way out. Develop the discipline to take the pill - alarm on your cell phone or something and stay with the proven, and more economical, systems.

I actively dissuade patients from the shot. The only smart decision with respect to the shot is "do not."
