What are the odds she is pregnant?
What motivates this post is my girlfriend of almost 3 years is 5 days late.
Birth control methods involved: Rhythm- Sweet heart is a die-hard when it comes to calendarizing her cycle for the past 4 years. Funny thing is she didn't even it was useful for birth control until I came along. withdraw- i know i know haha... I have yet to ejaculate inside of her... except when using a condom stupid thing slipped off... but that was several months ago. I digress.. Anyway since being late she has taken two pregnancy tests both of which came back negative. One of which was today (5 days late) a First Response brand test. Test claims 99.9% accurate... we hope it is. I believe the reason for her delayed period could be due to the fact she got the flu around the time of ovulation. Think I read that some where online... She had a blood test 6 days after ovulation for the flu. It wouldn't show up as her being pregnant would it? So what do you guys think? I still have an extra p-test when should I have her take it? |

Sorry for the confusion, the condom slipping off is not the concern. I have a tendency to get off on tangents. She has had several perfectly on time periods since then.
The concern is mostly that we might have messed up in the rhythm method or ovulation did not occur when we suspected it would, and occurred at different date. She took a CVS brand test 3 days late, and a first response brand test at 5 days late. I still have another first response brand test is it worth while taking now? With finals this week and not getting her period on time she is really stressed out about it. A pregnancy isn't something we couldn't deal with we'd just like to know asap so we can take care of it while costs are low. |

Read the instructions on the test and follow them precisely. If you are certain that she tested after the minimum number of days, there is nothing much else a home test can tell you.
If you did mess up on the rhythm method, do not feel alone. Many, many have. There is the simple follow the calendar approach; the basal temperature approach; and, and mucous plug approach. The first is the simplest and least effective. The last requires training of both the woman and a willing partner to recognize what her body is saying.
