The pill and sex drive

So obviously the pill can have the side effect of reducing sex drive in a woman. I guess it completely varies from woman to woman, are different brands likely to have different effects on sex drive? If one pill reduces it, is it worth trying a different type or chances are the same kindof thing will happen?

Also, if you go off it for a couple of months then back onto the same one, will it neccesarily have the same side effects or not?

There ae more than forty different formulations on the market selling under different names and generic versions of some. Some have added medications such as iron. There are basically three different pills with some new variation based on newer synthetic hormones. In other words, there are many different formulae, each affecting different women differently. These different formulae varying from all oestrogen to all progesterone do have their own purposes based upon family history and tolerance by individual women.

Many women go through several different pills before finding one that has the least side effects for her. If you double back, the results will most likely be what they were before. You and your doctor will have to work together to figure out what is best for you. Whilst most tolerate most of the pills well, you may end up with an IUD or other contraception. Do note that the Nuvaring puts the least amount of hormone in your system.
