The most common spermicide, Nonoxynol-9, is a detergent. Some men report that that it seems to have a numbing effect on the lips. The solution to this is not to put it into the vagina before oral sex. There are no reports of Non-9 having a numbing effect on women's parts and the numbing appears to be limited to the lips and mouth. It has been in use for about sixty years.
