help

How rare is it to be pregnant and still have a period? I 've been on the pill a long time but I took medicine during this cycle and my period was hardly anything and it only lasted like 2 days. Should I be concerned or do you think it was just the medicine that threw me off this month? I only had sex once but it was with a condom.

Whilst I haven't brushed up on it recently, and I could be wrong, but my understanding is that it is impossible to have your period when pregnant.

The reason being that your body is seeking to become pregnant, your period is the stage when your body recognizes that in the previous ~28 days you did not achieve this, so looks to create new opportunities by getting rid of the certain matter and replacing said matter!

I'm sure I'll be corrected if wrong.. but I reckon I'm pretty close to spot-on.

Well because it was so little I wasn't sure if it was actually my period. I read on here somewhere that some women have breakthrough bleeding when they are pregnant.

Yes, some do. Some (very, very few) continue to have periods during the pregnancy.

Aussie, sorry. You are correct in the general case but quite wrong in specific women. Periods happen.
