I started taking the pill a few years ago not for the contraceptive side of it but to help with my periods, as I was getting cramps up to ten days in advance. I eventually gave up on it as aside from the fact that I am not good at remembering to take it, even when I was taking it properly I found I was bloating alot more, retaining fluid, was more emotional (not just at PMS time), and was still getting pain well in advance of my period again.
I have now stopped taking it and have an appointment with a gynaecologist soon but am wondering if anyone here has any suggestions. I now do need the contraceptive part as well so am keen to get some ideas. I have thought of Implanon, some people I know have had no problems with it, and others said it turned them into a lunatic. Any opinions? |

Well I've now seen a Gynaecologist who has said it's quite likely I have endometriosis and has booked my in for a laparoscopy to confirm diagnosis and treat it. They'll also put in an IUD (Mirena) at the same time as I don't like the pill.
