Birth Control Question

When I am taking my birth control and during the 7 placebo pills when I am on my period, can I get pregnant? I know they are just sugar pills and supposed to keep me from forgetting, but I was wondering if I could get pregnant during the pills because I am not sure. I have had several people tell me "yes" and others that say "no". So is there anyone who can give me a definite 100% answer??? Much appreciated! THANKS! =]

There is a sticky entitlerd Caution: Take Only as Directed. It explains how the pill, or other hormonal system, works.

Short answer: The pill does not protect day-by-day; it protects cycle-by-cycle. If you are taking the pills as prescribed and according to the brochure enclosed with them, you are safe all the time, no matter which pill you are taking.

That is a definite answer. Keep in mind that of each 100 women protected by the pill for a year, three will become pregnant. It is important to check every other medication or dietary supplement you are taking for interaction with the pill. This is especially true of anti-biotics and psychotropic meds.
