Short answer: The pill does not protect day-by-day; it protects cycle-by-cycle. If you are taking the pills as prescribed and according to the brochure enclosed with them, you are safe all the time, no matter which pill you are taking.
That is a definite answer. Keep in mind that of each 100 women protected by the pill for a year, three will become pregnant. It is important to check every other medication or dietary supplement you are taking for interaction with the pill. This is especially true of anti-biotics and psychotropic meds.
