Question Need suggestions.......

My boyfriend and I have been sexually active for two months now. We've been using condoms because currently I am not on birth control. I'm not sure as to the best option for b/c because I am on some medications. These medications are Lamictal, Effexor, Naprosyn, and HCTz.......

Anyone have any suggestions for hormonal b/c?????

Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

You should probably go talk to a doctor about this.

There are some doctors here on this board who might be able to help you out, but still, having someone look at your medical records might be your best option.

Yeah the best thing is to go set up an appt w/ your GP or GYN and talk about options and the drugs you are taking. You'll need to see one anyhow to get the prescription for them.

Right off hand I would think you would be ok.... I know antibiotics for sure cancel out BC. But I am no DR or RPH.... so you know :P lol.

You MUST talk to your doctor about this. The meds listed do not have deleterious interactions but I can only guess at the underlying condition. The doctor may not want you on hormones regardless of drug interactions. Two things to raise with your doctor:

1. The IUD is available without hormones and is a good contraceptive choice.
2. The ring puts the lowest amount of hormone in your bloodstream
