Exclamation Pill Problem

So I am on birth control and have been for a couple years now, and it's all good. It's our main form of birth control for my man and I. But now I have a problem. I came home (from school) for a week and I forgot to bring my pills with me. I just had my week off from my pills and I am supposed to start a new pack tomorrow, but obviously I can't. And I don't think the pharmacy will give me a new pack because I still have 2 packs left or insurance or something.

So what do I do? Can I just start the new pack a week late? Or should I take the whole month off? What is that going to do to my cycle?

You can call the doctor's office and see if they will give you a one-month prescription. You can speak with the pharmacist and ask for the same. If there is a Planned Parenthood or women's clinic nearby, try them - with the same dose and type of pill you have been on. If you are on estrogen only, get that; if you are on a combination, get that.

Starting a new pack a week late is NOT a good idea. Coming off the pill has some risks with irregular ovulation. I think it likely that either the doctor or pharmacist will be able to help. Absent either of those, have a good stock of condoms and vaginal spermicide and start up after your next period. Your next cycle, before going back on the pill, may vary from the regularity you have become accustomed to.

I had that issue once where I was going on vacation and was going to start a new pack and realized I had not brought it with me. I just called the PLanned Parenthood that was in the same town I was staying and explained the situation and they actually gave me 3 months of the birth control just the generic form. I definitely asked a lot of questions to make sure it was the same type and I would still be protected and I didn't have a problem with it.
