IUS Q's etc

So I have some Q's bear with me please.

Right so I haven't had a period in 2 years. I was told by my Dr I would get them back with the IUS (started in Jan) but never did. I had some bleeding when it was inserted but nothing at all since.

One of my Q's is could I get pregnant and not know it, since I am not having periods, but I am on an IUS?

Secondly, I have been getting bad cramps recently. I haven't had them as bad since it was inserted. Any explanations?

One especially for the Dr's on here, would the blood disorder Beta Thallesmia Minor affected the IUS? I only just found out I have it.

Cheers

I assume you mean the IUD and hit the S by mistake.

Why have you not had a period in two years? That is key information to answer your question. If you were on long term hormonal contraception such as the shot, implants or the one period a year dosage of hormones, it takes some women a long time to get readjusted.

Be glad you have Beta Thallasemia Minor rather than Major. Minor usually has no apparent symptoms or significant negative effects. It is usually found only with special testing. There must have been a reason for your doctor testing for it. That reason could make all the difference in what any physician would say.

Some women do experience cramping in the first few months after insertion of an IUD. Most adjust within a few months. It is very unlikely that pregnancy has occurred especially with the history of amenorrhea.

Given what you have laid out here, I recommend you sit down with the doctor and discuss the whole group of stuff at once. I would certainly make no recommendation based on this partial information. You have been living with this for twelve months now; get to the doctor and get some answers.

Thing is these Q's just appeared.

I didnt hit the S by mistake i was told it was called and IUS as its name was IntraUterine System.
If its Mirena IUD then fine I get confused as its called several things.

I was on the shot for just under a year, and I have been off it over a year.
I am glad its only minor too. I dip in and out of being anemic and have been getting sick a lot because of it. So they tested my blood for everything. Apparently I am affected by it slightly more than I should be. I am unlucky that way. I only found out 2 weeks ago.

I experience cramping the 1st week after insertion and nothing till the past 2 weeks or so. It hurts like hell. I would put it to period pains if I had any clue of my cycle. I dont think pregnancy would occur. I would be extremely unlucky if that was the case as I am very careful.

OK, IUS is the reference some use for IUD with hormonal coating.

Do make a list of these issues and discuss with your doctor.
