The pill and other meds.

So this past tuesday I had my tonsils removed (not a feat I wish to EVER go through again). Unfortuneately also I was and still am on the time of my month so you can imagine how much more fun the whole situation was.

ANYWAYS....While I was at the hospital I was on morphine(first day/night) and T3's (2nd day) for pain and Cephalexin as an antibiotic. Now that Im back at home they gave me T2's for pain and im still on the cephalexin.

Ive read and been told that antibiotics messes around with you birth control pills. Im not due to start my birth control until this saturday but I will still be on antibiotics at the time.

So since im bored and dont really have the motivation at this time to move or do anything I thought I would ask here. Does any of these medications I have taken and are taking affect birth control? If so which ones? How long till after im done taking these medications would it be "safe" to be sexually active (with the pill).

Begin your next pack & use another form of BC in case of failure for that month. Do not risk it. Next pack after this, you should be fine to resume pill only use. I doubt for the next 3 weeks you are going to care about having sex! I had mine out as an adult and yes, it's bad! While on meds always add another form of protection until you are off the meds and have begun a fresh pack.

It is standard to warn women of anti-biotic interference with hormonal contraception. In this case the risk is small, but do not risk it. Follow sera's advice.

Take a boring trip to the shop and pick up some condoms and vaginal jelly. And do not perform oral sex until you are seen again by the surgeon.
