I've been taking B/C for just over a year now, and have never had any problems. Well last month I skipped my period because I was on holidays, but I usually take my pill at 6am. I took them whenever I woke up when on holidays. I got my period when on the pill. Thats not whats freaking me out though, because I screwed that up. This month I had to skip it again because my doctors appointment just happened to be the same week. I haven't missed any pills, and I accidentally took one of the pills a couple hours late. I started spotting today, and im only on week two of my pack. Could my cycle still be messed up from last months mess up? Or any other ideas? (I haven't been sexually active during any of this.)

Please read the sticky Caution: Take Only As Directed
Spotting while on the pill is not at all unusual and messing around with times and schedules gets your body confused.

My doctor wont let me switch pills. But whatever. I just have one more question if anyone knows. Since I messed around with my pill, and im on second week of the pill...Will I still get my period on the placebo?

READ THE STICKY!!! And the rest of that thread.
Any deviation from the prescribed regimen can result in strange happenings that will depend upon the specific pill and the woman involved. As sera points out, we cannot know what will happen for any woman on any pill. I hope I misuderstood but it sounded like you switched placebo with medication for whatever reason. That increases the likelihood of pregnancy.

I have a somewhat similar question and I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll just tack it on to this one.
I'm on birth control. Have been for 2 months. I'm supposed to get my period next weekend but I don't want to get it since I'm going home to see my boyfriend. (We have a long distance relationship, yada yada). One of my friends said that instead of taking the fake pills with no hormones, to just start the new pack and that I wont get my period. She said her gyno told her to do this and that it was fine as long as she only did it a few times. What do you all recommend? |

Call the doctor and ask since pills can vary and you are putting yourself at risk. Whatever your friend said is not a substitute for medical attention. Please read this: Caution: Pill - Take only as directed

Some pills give you the ability to skip periods if you so wish. YOU CANNOT DO THIS WITH EVERY KIND OF PILL... if the prescribed regimen and the instructions that come with the pack do not tell you that you can choose to skip a period and do not give directions on how to do so, then NO it is NOT SAFE to attempt to do so. Don't listen to what your friends say, regardless of what they told you their doctor said, their doctor is not YOUR doctor, and not every pill is the same, particular methods of use cannot be applied across the board. Take your pill exactly as you should, and just deal with having your period when you see your boyfriend. I am in the same position, and guess what, if you guys want it bad enough, you'll go ahead and have sex anyway and find out that its not so bad. Put a towel down.

Alright thanks. I was planning on checking with my doctor anyways and seeing if my birth control was able to do that. I looked on my bc's website and it didn't mention anything about being able to purposefully miss your period so I will definitely get professional advice.
