I am 17 years old and my mom refuses to buy me birth control because she thinks it is "bad for my body" because that is what my pediatrician told her. She CAN NOT know that I am sexually active.
HOW CAN I GET A HOLD OF BIRTH CONTROL? I went to Wal-Mart, and they said you have to be 18. They do not hand it out at my school. Does anyone know another way?

Look under Planned Parenthood or look for your local County clinic.
http://www.plannedparenthood.org/ I would ask your doctor why since something in your medical history may be a contraindication for using the pill. Or it could be just your MD's personal opinion. Look at the link and search for a local site near you. You do not need parental consent to go nor do they contact your parents regarding any information or even if you had a visit with them. 18 is age of majority regarding making medical choices. However, you can purchase Spermicides & condoms at your age.

What kind of birth control are you talking about? If you mean the pill then you can go to Planed Parenthood and they will set you up (at least in my state) and if you can get to one. If you are talking about condoms and spermicidal then it is federal law that they have to sell it to you, no questions asked. In some states and stores the casher will give you shit if you look young I hear, but legally speaking, you have the right to buy them.

I am hesitant to prescribe hormones for younger women who are not having regular sex. Use condoms and vaginal spermicide. For certain conditions regarding the menses or for a 17 yo having frequent and regular sex, the risks of the hormones are less than the risks of pregnancy.
Most cities have women's clinics in addition to Planned Parenthood. Most will accommodate you.
