Exclamation The morning after pill/normal contraceptive pill..

If anything i'm asking this for my friend who had a silly experience, which could have been easily avioded provided she didn't listen to this silly romour.

Basicly she was told that if she took a whole packet of normal contracetive pills it would work like the morning after pill. I don't know where she herd this but it was news to me..

She had had a one noght stand stupidly and was too scared to go to the doctor for the morning after pill and took a whole packet of her pills, and then became extreemly ill and apparently she feels like she's had the lining of her stomach removed. She's finally recovered after two days and still had enough time to go the doctors to get the proper morning after pill.

I was just wondering has anyone else herd this silly rumour? I hadn't herd it before she told me about it, personaly i wouldn't try espacially aftrer seeing the state she ended up in..

She wasn't entirely wrong, as some of the senior folks have mentioned here before, you can use regular birth control pills in a particular formula to act as a morning after pill. Not a whole pack, necessarily. I found this link which tells you how many of which brand of birth control will work as a morning after pill:

I see where she went wrong now, she doesnt take any of thoughs pills she takes Cilest it think, they really made her quite ill all night after. At least there's not much risk of dying due to hormone overdose.

There are more than forty different "pills" on the market. Some are approved for use as emergency contraceptio; some are not. So, some would be effective and some not. There is a different dosage with each of them when used as a morning after pill.

For none, would it be a whole pack at once and she would predictably have felt quite ill for a few days. While no real risk of dying, as lust so gently puts it, there is a likelihood of messing up her cycle, feeling poorly for a week or so and, depending upon the pill formula, doing damage to a baby.

The link gigi gives you shows various risks for women with different conditions. This was a panic reaction, I am sure, but not recommended.

Before anyone does such please see a doctor, in her circumstances, search the Internet and look for emergency contraception & use of BCP's. Will save much error. Read the information on Princeton's site.

This is not intended for any substitute for medical care or consulting a physician!
