In the "olden days," of the estrogen bombs used for birth control, it was recommended that we take "drug holidays" every few years and there was fear that lengthy use could affect fertility.
With nearly fifty years of experience and vastly reduced hormone levels in the pills, those things are no longer feared or necessary. Getting advice from an aunt or older friend may still included that advice. Talk to your doctor.
There is some evidence that we ahould wait a few months to try to get pregnant. I usually recommend using another method for a cycle or two after going off the pill.
