HotDog is on a distinguished road
conceptrol question.

Hey, I am new to the boards. Ive been looking at other boards but this one seems like the one with the best content and a more mature community. That said, i have a question about spermacide.

My gf and I have been having sex and we have been using a condom. We both wanted to have sex without it, but still be as safe. We baught some Conceptrol at the store but we have not yet used it.

Now the question that i have is, is it safe? The main reason i want to use it is just for "pre cum". Im not going to cum inside of her at all, i would pull out. Ive heard that you can get pregnant from "pre cum" but it is rare. And im just way to scared to actually cum inside of her for risk of pregnancy.

Would you think this is a good product for the use that im looking for?

Also, has anyone used this and what are your thoughts on it? Did you get a rash or anything like that from it?

heres a link to the product http://www.shopinprivate.com/concongelpac.html

-thanks

Welcome to the Board and Forums. Thank you for the positive observations and kudos. I recommend that you begin your stay here by reading the POSTING GUIDELINES at the top of your screen and to look through the threads and Sticky posts at the top of many forums for answers before posting.

I just answered your questions in part in another thread moments ago.

> My gf and I have been having sex and we have been using a condom. We both wanted to have sex without it, but still be as safe.

If you are teens or in your twenties, do not have a way to support a new person to the world, and do not want the plans for your respective futures forever changed, then both of you need to look out for #1. She needs to be using a contraceptive and you need to be wearing a condom. People in your age range are more apt to become pregnant than at any other age for a variety of reasons. It is irresponsible for just one of you to use protection.

At the very least she should use a spermacide gel and better if she would double up with a diaphragm or other barrier device in addition. Better yet, she should be on the pill if at all possible.

I'll let someone else address possible side effects.

> The main reason i want to use it is just for "pre cum". Im not going to cum inside of her at all, i would pull out.

This is not enough reason. She needs to protect herself fully all the time and not just for precum. Pulling out is OK, yet is very far from anything reliable. More than one well intentioned guy has said what you have said and when the arousal is high and the orgasm is just past the next stroke or two, his alter ego takes over and says, ah shucks, and why not, and, the climax follows. It isn't until basking in the after glow that he come to his senses.

> Ive heard that you can get pregnant from "pre cum" but it is rare.

"Rare" is far from being impossible. Who are you trying to convince?

> And im just way to scared to actually cum inside of her for risk of pregnancy.

Consider that you are playing Russian Roulette, only instead of a single bullet in the chamber of a six-shooter, you have a fully loaded cannon. Never get it within firing range or dribbling distance of your partner's vulva unless the barrel of your cannon has a condom on it. She needs back up protection as described, above. One is just not sufficient protection.

Here is some interesting reading:

Birth Control Failure Rates

> we have been using a condom. We both wanted to have sex without it, but still be as safe.

If you are going to be involved in adult activities, you must act as responsible adults. There are plenty of threads on this site in which many people advise: "no condom", no sex, to others in your situation. You can experiment with other types of condoms like plastic and natural for more feeling; however, before you do, research and learn the pros and cons of each type before switching.

Doc, I love your answers. As for you guy.... one act of unprotected sex contains a 6% chance of bringing a little one into this world. Actually, within your precum are tons(I forget the specific number) of sperm. Some would have you believe it is just semen acting as a prep fluid for the inbound sperm but that is far from true... lastly, if you did have any sperm in your semen(you will) they can live as long as 48 hours and possibily migrate to the egg without your shot put assistance. The catch is the women's vaginal canal is quite a harsh environment for our litte swimmers so generally they aren't too happy when floating around aimlessly in there. Even then man... I would never ever have unprotected sex with someone that hasn't been tested with me for STD's and if you say you have to trust them... well that is showing mutual trust and respect and lastly no birth control is 100% and when you remove the highly effective ones such as the pill you are really rolling the dice.

Doc, thank you for your reply. It was very informative. Just statistically speaking, if someone did use the spermacide correctly and only the precum went in her and that was it, how would the odds on that look for pregnancy?

Why are you trying to quibble over semen vs precum. These are just the carriers. Anytime sperm are in the vicinity of the vagina, pregnancy is possible. Stop trying to fool with Mother Nature by attempting to get around the inevitable. Grow up and take responsibility even though you do not like the rules of the road.

Kids who want to participate in adult activities must understand that the price of admission is acting responsibly and owning up to the possible consequences.

You want protection. Keep the bare penis out of the vagina. Conceptrol (a good spermicide) is about as effective a a condom, alone, in preventing pregnancy. Using them together reduces the risk of pregnancy to about the same as being on the pill.

Assuming that it takes two days for the egg to traverse the tubes and sperm will live, realistically, up to four days in the uterus and tubes, the knowledge that one in four sex acts during fertility result in pregnancy and a normal 28 day cycle, this would be 6 / 4 / 28 = .14 chance of pregnancy (Hopper, above, has calculated the chance of fertility during a random act of sex; thiss adds the known "failure" rate). Do this thirty times and the chances are better than even that a pregnancy will result.

There are 400 million sperm in each ejaculation. That puts many in there and lots left over to be all through the male system.

A bare penis should not be within six inches of an unprotected vagina.
