yes everything you say is true you should both have no oral untill it has died down. cold sore are very easily caught and any contact on any genitals runs a big risk of you or your partner catching herpes or genitle worts.

Genital herpes and oral herpes are different strains of the herpes simplex virus. The percentage of people with oral herpes is something like 99%, however, some may never have an outbreak (a cold sore) in their life (or at least very rarely). If it's oral herpes, then as far as I know, you cannot get genital herpes from exposure to the oral herpes virus. However, if you do not have oral herpes you can be infected with that.

You should do some research on herpes simplex I and II viruses....it will tell you a lot about transmission of the virus and ways to prevent it. Also, if your girlfriend wants some relief from cold sores, tell her to go to neveranoutbreak.com. There is an oxygen supplement that she can order off that website. My dad and my sister both get cold sores and they use this product. It's a little expensive but if she uses it the way it says to, she will almost never get another cold sore again. But, I can tell yout his. When the herpes virus infects someone, it implants itself in the chromosomal DNA, therefore, as of right now, it is INCURABLE. Since your girlfriend carries the virus, she can spread it to others even when she doesn't have a cold sore. So you might want to think about using a condom or something if she is going to give you oral. But, some people can contract the virus but not experience outbreaks (cold sores), so if you two have been together a while and you have not gotten a cold sore by now, you probably aren't going to get them, but you could still have the virus.

Herpes type I is a cold sore, genital herpes is type II. Yes, they can be spread but concern yourself with catching it on your mouth. If there is an outbreak of a cold sore skip oral contact...kissing too until it heals. This does not cause venereal warts.

Thanks people. Sera, my girlfriend and I talked before I even posted this thread, and decided that her mouth wasn't going to be used for anything this weekend other than eating (the first time that we will be seeing each other in over a month). But thanks for making it clear to me. And I had never heard of getting genital warts from herpes, either type I or II. Basically, so long as her mouth doesn't come into contact with me, we can still have sex with no problems?

Yes, that is true in what you wrote. Avoid contact with her mouth, this is how the HSV I is spread, also sharing chap-stick or a glass, etc. Sex is fine, just kiss her on the cheek or nibble on her ears (or anything else you wish, LOL). It's not common to see HSV I to spread to the genitals but it can occur just as it can occur on your mouth. During times of stress or infection, it will re-occur in the person who has it.
I know my ex husband had it, as long as it was not moist we avoided kissing since it was uncomfortable for him and I never got it after many years of marriage. Warts have nothing to do with this other then all the above are viruses.

I never understood why this was an issue? Cold sores are NASTY looking... I wouldn't want that thing anywhere near me... lol.. much less kiss it or have it near my nether region
![]() I know also you aren't able to donate blood when you have a cold sore... I guess since the virus isn't dormate.. but active at the time. I found this out b/c my friend and her husband and I went to donate blood a few yrs ago after all the hurricanes here in FL...and well.. he got away w/ not having too since he had a cold sore LOL... what a punk! ![]()

LOL, well Demonbuttercup, it's not an issue as far as I'm concerned. I just wanted to make sure that I had all of my bases covered. Like I said, we already knew that I wasn't going to be kissing her on the lips. I wanted to be certain that I can't get type I from anything else we might be doing
