Question Should i be worried?

I've always had a milky white discharge. I've never had any other symptoms such as itching or burning. It doesnt have a horrible smell like "fish"...it just smells like, vagina lol?! It doesnt happen every day either. I always hear mixed message from different people. Some say that any discharge is bad while others say a clear or milky white discharge is normal because your vagina is just cleaning out the bacteria that it may have come in contact with. I was just wondering if this type of discharge is normal? I am on birth control pills, i dont know if that would have anything to do with it though. So i was just wondering if its normal or if i should go see a doctor asap. I've noticed it for awhile now but now i'm just worried cause i keep thinking about all the times people say that any discharge is bad. Maybe i just need some reassurance to stop worrying so much lol. Thanks

We all drain constantly. Even those days when we have no "spot" there has been some discharge during the day. It is usually clear or just slightly milky. Being on the pill can change the chemistry of the vagina a bit. Smell is the big indicator of some sort of infection.

The next time you see the doctor have a swab taken just to put your mind at ease. If other symptoms develop, then get an appointment right away.

BTW: Your vagina is a complete little ecosystem of flora and fauna. The good stuff keeps the bad stuff in check. If you are sexually active, then he is contributing to this a bit, too, but the good bugs in you keep what he contributes in check as well.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'm going to try to call the doctor in a few days to go in for a check up, hopefully i can get an appointment in the next few weeks. Hopefully going to the doctor will put my mind at ease and it'll be nothing. I just worry a lot, especially because i dont want to pass whatever it can be along to my boyfriend even though we use condoms 90% of the time. I need to learn to stop worrying so much lol. Thanks again!

I think its normal. I'm sometimes like that, and just recently had a PAP smear and everything checked out. I admit I thought it was a bit weird too...but oh well everyones bodies are different! :P

Btw I don't burn/itch or anything, and it smells well "normal" lol.

Well i couldnt get an appointment with the gyno. for another few weeks so for now, i called my regular doctor and she gave me a prescription for a pill that would clear up a yeast infection, if thats what it is. But when i asked if i could pass it along to my b/f, both the nurse and the doctor said i couldnt. I always though you could pass along a yeast infection if you have sex with someone. Anyway, i'm still going to bring it up with the gyno when i go and see if she thought it was a yeast infection or what not or if its just normal. Thanks for your help!

The pill for yeast is Diflucan. It is possible to give the yeast back and forth though it's not common as seen with STD's. Diflucan only "kills" one type of yeast where as the vaginal suppositories "rid" you of 4 different types. You can also purchase Monostat suppositories over the counter.

ok, suppositories, as I've always understood it, are taken rectally. Is it also a suppository if it's taken vaginally?
