HPV question

I know HPV isn't the biggest deal, but I would like some info. I am going to a doc soon but I still have questions nagging me.

I was in a monogamous relationship for about 13 years, no stds or std scares, no minor viruses related to sex, nothing.

I am in a sexual relationship now, and I recently discovered what is probably a wart on the vulva.

Is absolutely the only way I could have gotten this, is if my partner carries HPV? I know a lot of people carry it. I am not seeing it as a problem really but I just want to know if that is the only way I could have gotten this.

And what else do I need to know going forward?

Relax. It could be a number of things. Given your state of mind it is reasonable to see your doctor. If it is genital warts, then you have some deciding to do. If not, then it could be many things. Just do not jump to conclusions. Get it checked.

Tell your doctor what your fear is. Then that can be addressed specifically. After you get a firm diagnosis, then talk about the next steps.
