Hi, ive just started on the pill and currently have slight side effects of headaches, hopefully this will disapear once i have been on it for a while. But i was wondering if you could answer 2 questions for me. If i was to take normal paracetamol would this effect the pill from working? And secondly how long after taking the pill should you wait until you have have sex without other moths of controception?

If you are having headaches you should let the prescriber know. If you experience any visual disturbances you should let the prescriber know. No the paracetamol will not affect the BCP, nor will any other OTC pain reliever, even if it is taken orally. The route has no bearing on it, oral or rectal.

As far as how long until no other BC methods? If you want to be very certain, wait until you have completed one month. Many prescribers based on the brand of pill also will say either immediately or within 7 days it will begin to be effective. It depends on the brand and the day you start it. Read the pamphlet insert with the pill it will explain this.

most of the time your health care provider will give you a three month supply, then ask to see you again on your 3rd month

that is because usually if you are to have any side effects, they will have shown up and your body will have had time to adjust. if you still have side effects after 3 months and they are bothering you, you can talk about switching to another brand.
