Is oral safe?
Planned Parenthood These are two links to check out. I also just did a search on this board for "std and oral" and a lot of threads came up. Bottom line is yes... there are a lot of STDs that can be transmitted orally... some easier than others... If this has anything to do w/ your previous post about ditching the condoms since you are on the pill... but you and/or your BF have engaged in oral sex w/ other people... I would suggest just both getting tested to ease any concerns. Quote:

In its simplest form, the advice is that if you can contract genitally, you can contract it orally. I examined a thirteen year old girl for a sore throat in a big citu ER. It was full of gonorrhea. Ugly. Seems her step mother had been renting her out for oral sex. As the health officers rounded up her recent male clients, we identified at least two who had contracted gonorrhea - most likely from her.
Do not suck on a strange penis!! Condoms help. Infact they are probably more reliable in preventing orally transmitted disease than genitally.

Thanks, for the help/ advice guys.
I have to say i was shocked when i heard that because being 18, i've been through all my schools sexual health classes and not once was this mentioned, lol although now that I think about it, its is pretty obvious that if u can get an STD from sex you can get in from oral sex aswell. I was wondering if there if there are any STD's in particular that you can get from oral sex that wouldnt show any signs. For example as Brandye said gonoorrhea gave a patient of hers a sore throat, but I have been preforming oral sex on my partner for almost a year now unprotected, and have shown no signs of infection, so would it be safe to say that I'm in the clear? |

It sounds like you are in the clear. Some of the viral diseases (HIV) take a while to show up but bacterial diseases have a fixed incubation period. They may be hidden in your vagina but will be obvious in your mouth.
