Questions: Does semen smell? and more
Hi everyone. This is my first post on these forums. I appreciate everyone's "open" attitude towards other's sexual problems here. I feel secure and cared for. That said, I have a question for you guys today, regarding my own health
I'm quite a bit worried. My semen seem to have a strong smell which I'm unsure of its cause or origin. I don't even know if it's normal or not. I have never had sex before (I'm a teen) but I've heard "smelly semen" can be a symptom of STDs. I have had direct contact with other's wounds before (but that was way back, like 5 years ago, so I don't remember the details of his/her wounds) but I'm pretty sure the blood was clotted on the surface of his/her skin. I also had a bump that caused itchess on the surface of my testis, just under the penis (sorta in the gap). I'm not sure the cause of the bump, but I am thinking that it might be my masturbation habits (wow my privacy ! I'm ruining all of it in just this post ! ). After I ejaculate, I don't wash the semen away or anything, I usually just put my pants back on as usual. I think the skin on the testis is sensitive/allergic to semen so it caused a bump? Could that be the cause? But I do that everyday (well maybe not that often) and the bump disappeared even though I ignored the semen in my pants (yes its kinda gross, I'm sorry to you guys for even bringing this up, its embarrasing). The bump was gone a few days later. I never had a bump like that before even though I have been masturbating without washing myself for like what, 2 years.I'm a bit worried about getting STDs especially HIV (I'm 16, not exactly the best time to catch such a virus). But on the other hand I convince myself that a virgin like myself has a very low chance of getting STDs. I might have touched a couple people's wounds (by accident, of course) but that was pretty much it. How bad is my situation? Please help, thanks for any input. Greatly appreciate the help. ![]() |

Semen has a characteristic odor that any sexually active woman can tell you about. The dominanat smell to my nose is similar to chlorine bleach. If it has a rotten smell, that would indicate a urethral infection. This urethritis is quite common and remain at a low level for a long time. If it burns when you pee and you question the smell, see a doctor. Most urethral infections are not STD.
