Girl:
I think it has nothing to do w/the BCP, it's coincidental. It sounds as if you have a sinus infection from your symptoms. It may have been brewing for some time before it became this intense, this can take a few weeks in some people. Then when you have all the symptoms, you have a full blown infection, it's not uncomon to feel really run down and fatigued for a long period of time before. Call your doc, and if you can tolerate decongestants try them until you get in to the doc. If you have taken the pill regularly don't worry about your cycle it will change after you start the pill...I think it's two seperate issues.

well im no expert but i do know that there are many different pill formula's and or doses.
so i would talk to your gyno and tell her your concern, maybe its coincidence maybe its not. only a professional could tell you. alot of the fda approved medication has very odd side affects to 1% of its users. so maybe you are one of those and you need a change of prescription. tell your doctor |

BCP's have no documented effects on immunity; in fact those who have auto-immune disorders or are immune supressed are fine taking BCP's (and encouraged to prevent unwanted pregnancy's). The only possible contraindication is those with with adrenal disorders and that would depend on the underlying disease.
All in all, sinusitis characterized by sinus pain, pressure, fatigue, headache, low grade fevers, or discharge nasal or post nasal takes time to become a full blown infection in most cases, if you allow yourself to become run down due to poor diet, poor hydration, or lack of sleep; they continue to exacerbate. I would say the sinus issue & beginning BCP's are coincidental. Run it past your GP b/c you need to get checked out for the sinus issue and you need your doctor to rule out if the sinus issue is secondary to allergies. I would say the correlation between the two is very unlikely for the reasons stated above.

I wasnt aware we need expert credentials to give input.
Alot of medicine has alot of different side affects, its not crazy to think that having flu like symptoms is one of those. And in my life time i have heard many different odd side affects from BC. and its a web forum, you guys correctly inputed the proper information. Until you can tell me what harm my advice could have caused, then maybe i will consider apologizing for wasting precious web forum space. why be so judgemental, im only trying to help? im not offended that i was wrong, so why are you? |
