Foam questions

It wasn't until I first read a post on the board that I heard of the foam. What is it? How effective is it? How much does it typically cost (in Canada)? How do you apply it? Basically, anything there is to know about the foam, I'm interested in learning.

Using spermicidal foam is one of many ways to place spermicide into the vagina. Other ways are jelly, suppositories, film. Two leading brands of foam are Delfen and Ortho.

The bottle is shaken and has an applicator pressed onto the nozzle. The applicator is then placed into the vagina and the plunger is pressed putting the foam into the vagina.

All chemical (spermicide) systems are about as effective as one another. If 100 women use foam every time for a year, there will be about 15 pregnancies. Cost is about the same as other spermicides. I do not live in Canada.
