It depends.
some insurances don't cover it, mine is like around $40 a month I think, but I have a health fund w/ my insurance... so its taken out of that. I haven't actually had my pills ran through my insurance (to see if they have a copay) b/c I haven't met a deductible yet while taking it. When I was in college, I would see the NP at the clinic and get my pills there. I only had to pay $10-12 a pack there. There are also county health clinics/planned parenthoods/ places of that nature where you can get pills free or discounted. Click Here

I know here in NYS the cost is about $30-40/month for the pill if you go to your ob/gyn or GP for the prescription and fill through the local pharmacy. In the US most health insurance companies will not pay for pills used for contraceptive purposes b/c the thought is; if they pay for BCP's for contraception why should they not pay for condoms or a pregnancy test? If you have a medical condition which requires you to take the pill, i.e. a history of ovarian cysts, and the pill is being used to treat a medical condition, then they will cover the cost (minus the co-pay) with documentation from your MD. Also, if you send your prescription to a on-line pharmacy the cost is generally less.
If you go to a clinic or to planned parenthood there is either no cost or a minimal cost based on what you can afford.
