Unhappy Genital Herpes - How to tell my new boyfriend

I have genital herpes. Whats the best way to tell my new boyfriend? He's 23 and much younger than me and is much more conscientious about using condoms than my generation ever was. We use condoms all the time but eventually he'll want us to get tested and go the next step if we want to get serious.

I have an article on my web site that discusses living with an STD, including talking to your partner about it. You might find it of some use.

Do you breakout frequently?
Do you know when you are about to have an episode?

As long as the condition is dormant you should be OK.

She still needs to let him know she has the disease, though.

You sit him down and tell him. It was irresponsible for you not to have told him that you have herpes BEFORE you started sleeping with him. Condoms are not fullproof. Not only was it irresponsible, you could also be legally liable, if he were to choose to sue. You needed to tell him before you started sleeping together. Tell him before too late. But don't be too surprised if he bulks.

YES. If he runs, it wasn't meant to be. If he stays, and he probably will then your relationship is even stronger.
