Mirena?

I've asked my OG-BYN about Mirena, and she says a problem with it, for women who haven't given birth yet, it can be harmful because the string sticks partly out of the uterus and could cause an infection. This worries me. I want to have children someday, but me and my boyfriend have both decided now is not the time. I am currently using the NuvaRing (I think that's what it's called.) and sinse it will take 21 days to become fully effective, we are still using condoms.

I would like to have Mirena, or some other IUD, but the site doesn't say the probability of getting an infection.

Does anyone have any first hand information about IUDs? Thanks!

Ask your doctor for clarification.

My partner is an OBGYN & I have a Mirena -- the only risk of infection is related to Herpes which can then be passed onto baby.... You can have an antibody test done to find out if you have been exposed to Herpes if you don't already know & then decide from there.

i hope this helped a little. I currently have an IUD . and i knew other woman that had an iud before having kids and thye got pregnant really fast!
