One thing I wanted to say on the subject: it doesn't seem like there's enough information on here about the virus and how devastating it can be, or the fact that it can be carried and transmitted undetected by guys. It woud be great if someone with some real knowledge on the matter enlightened the readers of this message board.

Finally, my main reason for starting this thread. I had a question about getting tested to see if I'm a carrier of HPV. Is HPV something that would get detected when they test blood that I've donated? Or do I need to get tested specifically for it in an STI test? and if that's the case how do they do the test? is it a blood test or what?

There are roughly 100 HPV. Four of them are known to be involved in cervical cancer and there is now a vaccine being introduced that is recommended to all women. Most of us by the age of thrity have been exposed to many of these viruses and most of us will never know the difference.

The HPV is detectable in women during the annual pap smears but is otherwise not generally looked for or discovered. Men are not generally tested because it has no effect on men and is a rather expensive proposition. The 100 viruses are not usually detectable in blood tests.
