Time of the month and sex
In relation to a woman's period, what would be the worst time of the month to have sex? She uses birth control and I use a condom.
On another note, 2 days ago I didn't use a condom. My girlfriend is due to have her period in the next day or 2. If she does have her period, will that guarantee that she will not become pregnant. Or will I have to wait before her next cycle to have piece of mind? |

How long does it take for sperm to reach an egg? Is it possible that during her period the sperm (from a couple days ago) could still be en route and that when a new egg forms, it could possibly fertilize that egg?

The menstrual cycle and its attendant risks are described here many places. Look around, especially i Chick Chat.Whe you say she uses "birth control" I assume you mean she is on this pill. A condom is birth control; so is spermicide. Be specific. If she is on the pill, the chances of pregnancy is way down.

First off no time is the "right" time to assume that she wont get pregnant. Some ladies have a different luteal phase which means when they are going to ovulate which would make them very fertile. Then there is the issue that sperm can live inside a woman's vagina for up to 5 days..so even if she isn't dropping an egg/ovulating on the day you have sex, if she does 2 or 3 days later the chance of becoming pregnant is high. Everyone has a different cycle...some are 28 but it can go up until 40 day cycle, which is another reason you can say "which day/week is okay to have unprotected sex"... You never know and it only take's one time to conceive.
Be smart, especially if you aren't prepared for a baby at this stage in your life. |
