Hi,
Could you let me know how many days you should leave before you take a pregnancy test for it to be as accurate as possible, i would rather not wait for my period as that is another two weeks that's all.

sorry i messed that post up, i also wanted to include:

i am worried about pregnancy because although i am on the pill my boyfriend and i tried using condoms to reduce the risk of getting pregnant but found that they were a real turn-off so we stopped usign them, i have been told that the pill is over 99% effective so if only using the pill works well for both of us is this okay to continue with or should i perhaps consider looking at more suitable condoms for us or even other methods of contraception? I'm not sure if i should be worried about only using the pill as contraception or if i'm over reacting. So this was why i wanted to take a pregnancy test just to make sure...

If 100 women sexually active women take the pill exactly as prescribed, up to 3 will become pregnant in a year. The vast majority of women on the pil AND in a stable relationship, use nothing in addition.

Each pregnancy test kit has a brochure explaining when and how. Follow those instructions. You likely have nothing to worry about but if you go forward on the pill alone be aware that anti-biotics, especially, negate it. See the thread in Chick Chat on Which Birth Control for me.

The avantage of condoms is that they increase the effectiveness and they also give some STD protection. You could also consider a chemical approach such as vaginal jelly, suppositories, foam, sponge or film. They each have their advantages and disadvantages and if you engage in oral sex, you will want to insert the spermicide just before insertion of the penis.
