Overdose of BC!

Hopefully one of the experts can help me out here.... here's my story. so when i got down to going to a gynae (about 2 yrs ago) they found that i had cysts so i had a laperoscopy coz they said i had endometriosis(apologies if i got any of the terms wrong!) anyway the operation was carried out and after that i was on zolatex for 6 months. after that wen i got my first period i was told to take 3 packs of Meliane after each other then stop and keep taking them normally (i.e. take for 3 weeks and stop for 1). so far good..

then some months later i had to go back to the gynae for a check up and she asked how i was taking the pills (meliane) and i said i was taking them as it said on d box - 3 weeks yes, 1 no. she told me that i was meant to be taking 3 packs after each other (i.e. for 9 weeks!!) and i stop for 1 week. i found this abit strange but obviously i followed the doctors orders.

now quite a few months have passed since i've been doing this. and i noticed that my moods and my sex drive have taken a turn for the worse big time and i asked my sis if it was possible to take other pills (she's a graduate doctor...been working d past 2 years only so not an expert). as we were discussing i asked whether i would still hav to take 3 packs after each other with the new pills and she gave me a look of horror.

well to cut a long story short....i am now going to remain on the same pill and take them as i'm supposed to (3 weeks yes and 1 no) and i will see if my moods and sex drive improves. however this isnt my problem...

my question is..... is it possible that i have done any damage cause i was taking all those pills?? i'm scared that maybe i wont be able to have kids or sthing and i'm getting worried. i have an appointment for a smear test at my gynae in june (its d earliest appointment available). should i get an emergency appointment/check up or sthing??

please help/advise!!

You have done no lasting damage. There is no obvious need for an emergency appointment. The mood swings may be a result of being on slightly elevated hormones for a while. Tell the doctor about it when you see her. The mood issues may pass with the end of your treatment and when you return to the "normal" three on-one off. She may also plae you on a lower dose.

The treatment is not unusual for endometriosis.
