question about birth control

i am almost finished with my first month of birth control pills and i'm about to start the sugar pill part, which means i will be off the real ones for seven days before i start a new pack, my question is, once i start a new pack is it effective immediately or do i have to wait seven days like when i first started birth control for it to be effective? since i will have been off the real ones for a week.

You are protected. As long as you take the pills exactly as prescribed and close to the same time each day, you are fully protected. Be careful what other medications or supplements you take. Check with the doctor before using any other medications.
