Girlfriend allergic to latex!!

We just found out that my girlfriend is allergic to latex, which means i cant wear a condom anymore. She is on the pill already, how safe is "Loette?" Can some one please give me some professional advice on what else there is i can use? I never thaught id find myself in this predicament.

If you do an internet search on condoms you will discover that they are made of other materials besides Latex. Many people are alergic so you can purchase condoms made from plastic. You can also purchase natural condoms although these will not protect you from STDs. Check the merchandise in stock at a couple of pharmacies or supermarkets and ask a druggist if they can get the other types for you if not in stock.

In a case like this, you have a couple of options. First of all, you can use condoms made of polyurethane. There are a couple of brands of polyurethane condoms that I know of that you can get at any drugstore. You could try Durex Avanti or Trojan Supra condoms. These are both male condoms. You could also try the female condom which is also made out of latex. These are also available at your local drugstore. Both male and female condoms are effective against HIV and STDs. There is another option that I do not recommend. It is lambskin condoms. They are made from the intestines of a sheep. These are effective against pregnancy but they are not effective against HIV and STDs.

If you are not worried about HIV or STDs, you could always have her use spermicides, diaphragm, cervical cap, birth control pill, depo provera, an IUD, or some other form of hormonal birth control such as the patch or the ring. Please use condoms though until both of you have been tested for HIV and STDs and the tests have come back negative. Play it safe!

In my contry (south africa) ive only seen latex condoms available. Youre right i should go do some research and ill start at the adult shops. As for HIV and STDs we are both 100% negative for everything, its the pregnancey factor we worried about as were both 22yrs young and and have promising careers.

Actually, instead of adult shops, try the Planned Parenthood website. You'll find comparisons and statistics about the effectiveness of various methods and combinations. Sorry I don't have the URL but if you google it should come up near the top.

A latex allergy is a pervasive thing and I'd encourage you to study that as well... there are tons of things that include latex including some that you won't even think about.

Most Durex brand condoms are polyurethane. Each major brand has a few models that are poly rather than latex.

On the pill, most women do not use condoms. If 100 women take the pill exactly as directed while sexually active for a year, three will become pregnant. Those odds are acceptable to most. If not in a monogamous relationship, condoms are recommended additionally.

If you are negative for all STDs and are monogamous then her taking the pill should be enough.

our first time was the first time, ever, for me without a condom. trust me id love to go bear back all the time, but its not worth the stress, and i cant expect her to take the morning after pill evrytime we dont use a condom. the statistics arent good enough for me and my gf. sex isnt the most important part of our relationshp, but it is an important one. and i,we, are limited to share our intamacey for fear of her falling pregnant. she says the condoms i use dont hurt her, but i know otherwise, i can see im hurting her. after a while of penatration its as though everything dries up, and dry latex in a dry vagina can not be that comfortable. i dont know what else to say but this is really troubling me, its easy to put full trust in the pill, but pregnancy is not an option for, both of us. if the pill was 100% guarenteed, this wouldnt be an issue. shes prepared to have an abortion if she should fall pregnant, but seeing as im also accountable if that should happen, im not prepared to let her go through that if i can help it. there is no guarentee that the procedure wont leave damage both physically and emotionaly. i think i should do more research on her condition.
