Cool the pill and antibiotics

This past week I've been on a couple of different antibiotics, and I was told that it makes the pill ineffective. This was also my first month taking the pill, and I'm starting the new pack on Sunday. So, my question is does ineffective mean it's the same as skipping the pill? Do I have to start over?

i don't know about starting all over (have never been on a pill in my life), so it's best to speak to your doctor. i do know, however, that antibiotics interfere with the pill and you stand a high risk at getting pregnant. i hope it helps....

Well, I'm still a virgin, and plan to be that way until I'm positive that the pill works the way it should. I don't trust condoms. That's why I was wondering if I need to start over and wait another month.

I would just b/c if you were taking your first months pack of pills and then you started antibiotics... those pills were cancelled, so it was probably like you didn't even take a pack of pills and your body still isn't completely on cycle.
I assume you are finishing up your period this week. I would start a new pack of pills on Sunday...finish those... have your period... and then I would think you would be ok.
Can never be too safe

My gyno actually recommended that I wait 2 months after starting a pill becuase quitting using backup methods. I, like you ended up having to take antibiotics for a few days soon after starting my first months. I'd do as demon says. Finish your period and start over agaon Sunday and use backup method for 2 months, just in case. Best thing of course would be to ask someone who actually got letter M.D. or R.N. after their names.

Yes, continue taking the pill but do not consider yourself protected until you have been off the anti-biotics for a week and you have had another period.

Most doctors recommend one complete cycle even though some inserts with the pills say one week.

So, the best thing would just be to wait another month, and complete another cycle of the pill. I'll definitely do that.

For your backup contraceptive, I'd recommend a condom plus a vaginal spermicide.

Yes, a vaginal spermicide. Look it up. Foams, jellies, films, suppositories.
