breasts question

hello everybody
first of all i'm a girl, i know my username doesn't indicate it. and i'm 21
my problem is that i am worried about something that appeared on the skin of my nipples. it's like a series of pimple-like bumbs. i have them on both nipples, on the left semi-circle of the left one and the right semi-circle of the right one. at first there were only 1 or 2 on each but they have been more and more appearing usually around the existing ones, and the latter have been becoming slightly bigger. and they are more visible when the nipples are hard.
anyone one have any idea what they are? and if they are serious? i don't know if i really should worry since they do not hurt at all and really seem to be just like spots only they won't go away. anyhting i can do about it?

many thanks

S.

I advocate seeing a doctor! However, Brandye might have more insight in this problem than I do.

i wanted to correct myself: what i meant was that the small bumps were on the areola of the nipple

should also mention that the first ones appeared a long time ago, can't even remember when i first noticed them

and i have thought about seeing a doctor on appointment only for that but if it's something normal then i'd feel a bit stupid. i can already imagine the doctor explaining complacently that it's nothing bla bla bla, they can be so patronising when they do that.

also, if it was on any other part of my skin i wouldn't probably worry since usually it's only when the form is not circular that there's a problem but the fact that it's on the breasts is a bit more panicky, what with breast cancer and all... but then again, their positions is actually pretty symmetrical (like i said almost only on the left side of the left one and right side of the right one) so maybe it's normal only i don't know it because breast anomalies are usually only discussed when there's a problem with them

so you see me user name really applies!

Still, seems to me that it's better safe than sorry! However, I too have semetrical bumps on my nipples methinks it may be normal? hmmm.... *goes to google nipples*

Not uncommon. Many women have the same condition and at 20 you are still developing. I added a full cup size after my twentieth birthday.

There is an amazing difference in nipples - size, color, hardness, texture. The next time you see your gyn do ask about it and to be more comfortable, have them looked at. Not to worry, though.

thanks galls, it is reassuring
and the picture gallery helped, mine looks similar to the 'montgomery glands' one
it's just that the breasts seen on the media look all the same and too perfect, guess it made me worry that i had that difference
i tend to be hypochondriac at times...
