Switching pills, still protection?

Hey all.
I have just recently started a new brand of pill due to mood swings associated w/ the last brand. I was just wondering if there was any drop in protection in the first week of the new pills, or am i still protected the same amount. I know that when you first start you need about a week backup protection, but does that go for switching pills also?

i have taken no breaks inbetween packs..i started the new one on the sunday i would take the first pill of the pack.

Well, why did you not ask the prescriber? The doctor making the switch for you knows what you are switching from and to. It is common to have to change pills until a proper one is found. Your best bet is to call and ask the nurse at the doctor's office. In the meantime, use a backup.

Many women have been and if the pill switching to is compatible, you are protected. There are some switches that would require an "adjustment" period. Believe your doctor.
