Thumbs down hives on the pill.

i've been on a combination pill for about a week now, not very long. saturday night, i started noticing little "bug bites" on my skin and when i woke up this morning it literally looked like someone poured hot water on me. i went to my doctor and she said they were definately hives, most likely caused by my birth control because thats the only new thing that i've been internally exposed to. i'm having my pill switched, i think, my Ob-Gyn is supposed to call me in the morning.

Question is, is the only thing i've ever been allergic to and have gotten hives from is Sulfa Antibiotics. so.. idk why i'd be breaking out in full blown hives all of a sudden.

Any one have any experiences like this?

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
As similar as many medicines are, they may use different binders. I have never encountered hives as with birth control pills although some skin spotting is not unusual. I have a suspicion that you are reacting to an inactive part of the medication. There is also the possibility that this has nothing to do with the pill even though that seems the most obvious. Hives appear for strange reasons - strange food, different soap, different clothes detergent. Talk to your gyn.
