Here's the deal. I have been in a "monogamous" relationship for four years. I was recently diagnosed with chlamydia. My now ex admitted to sleeping with a girl on and off since last spring. He claims that they always used a condom for intercourse but that she went down on him without one.
Soooo...a couple questions.
1. Is this a possible method of transmission? I have always been under the impression that it COULD happen via oral sex.
2. Other than gonorrhea, chlamydia, and herpes, what other stds can be passed on via oral sex? I've been tested for everything; I would honestly like to be able to give the moron a quick lesson on stds so he isn't so stupid with his next girlfriend. The man didn't even know what chlamydia or gonorrhea were.

Well, at least you got a very treatable one. Chlamydia lives in semen and vaginal juices and can be passed orally, anally or vaginally. It is easily treatable - make certain you take all your medications. The symptoms can disappear but the bacteria may still be present. There are one time drugs but more commonly it is a week's regimen.

Yes, this is a possible manner of transmission. So is vaginal intercourse with a condom. The condom is the best defense if used properly every time but, as with pregnancy, it reduces the chances but does not eliminate them completely. And his going down on her (not mentioned) is another possible route of transmission.

Although some may wish to nitpick me, I tell people that anything that is contagiously genitally is also contagious orally. You were wise to be tested for anything for which there is a test including HIV.

If he is out of your life, let someone else (the doctor treating his chlamydia!) educate him. Feel lots of anger and make certain none turns to guilt. You will live beyond this.

Thanks Brandye.
He actually doesn't go down on girls much. He only did with me a couple times in four years and with all his previous girlfriends excepting one, never. She, however, went down on him without a condom.
There is no guilt for me whatsoever. I did nothing to deserve this. I was faithful to him for four years; I was the best thing that ever happened to the loser. He himself whines this over the phone every time he gets drunk. Not gonna work.
I DID do something of which I am proud today. I told each of the guys I know she was banging that they need to be checked out. Guess what? She knew she had it, has been treated for it, and has not told a single one of her partners. Disgusting little tramp.
If he was willing to throw his family away for something like THAT thing, he was never good enough for us in the first place.

I am sorry. And happy that you are keeping it together. I am also sorry to say that women, and men, knowingly spread their little surprise entirely too often. In the UK, we keep a registry. I would assume you do the same at state or whatever your local health agency is.

Hey Brandye
Thanks again for your help. Thought you'd like to know that all my tests are still coming back clean thank heavens! So far so lucky, that's how I'm viewing it. The cheating dog has been trying to get me back, but as I'm moving about 8 hours away in 6 days, that isn't going to happen.

I dont understand why people do that?
If they have a STD there should be a law, maybe there is and I just dont know about it. But all that persons partners have a right to know! What is with people!?
I understand it would obviously cause some problems if she did tell people because most people would not want to sleep with her, but if its something treatable, WAIT till its gone. Even if thats a long time.

Why cant we stop these people from doing this?
There has to be some way.

I know it would suck to have something, but if I did I would tell whoever I was with. They have a right. They should have the choice as to whether or not they want to continue sexual relations with me. (No I do not have anything that I know of, although I'm going in on March 9th for my first pap test, ahhh *scared*)

I am pretty sure there is when it comes to people having HIV/AIDS. I think its some kind of crime if you knowingly have HIV/AIDS and do not tell your partner and knowingly put them at risk...unprotected..etc.

I'ver HEARD of people going away to Europe or overseas, metting the sweetest person and sleeping with them. Then the guy\girl gives them a "gift\box" that is not to be opened until on the plane. When the person opens it, they see a message reading "You have AIDS". Its really sick if its true. The only thing I can, if at all "understand" why they would do that, is maybe cuz they feel like they're dead and that if they're going down, they are taking everybody else with them. It really is unfortunate that some people can't be honnest and control themselves. But then again "Latex, Safe Sex". If a person is knowingly gonna engage in sexual activity without protection and with a stranger, its careless on their part.

Anyone that spreads a disease like that knowingly... for guys we should be able to castrate them, for girls... basically disable them from the ability to have sex. It really drives me insane. If you have AIDS, if you have any STD care about your partners, inform them, use protection. If you're not telling them you dont deserve to have them, or anyone. Screw the laws that will put them in jail for like only two years and then they're out doing it again. Make it so that they can never have sex ever again. Make it so that they can never harm anyone ever again. Watch them, keep track. They are criminals, as dangerous as a rapist or murderer. So why are they getting less harsh punishments!?!?!?!
