Effectiveness of birth control pills

Hey everyone. I posted a topic about a week and a half ago about getting an antibiotic shot during surgery and i was wondering how badly it would of affected my birth control pills since it was my birthday that weekend and i planned on having a little fun. Well my boyfriend and i didnt really do much that weekend because we were afraid something would of happened even with condoms. Well i'm starting a new pack of pills tonight (its 4:24am right now). I take the pill about 11:00 every night. I heard once you start a new pack, the pill starts working normally again, is that true? I got the antibiotic shot on december 1st, so it was about a week and a half ago. After about a day or two of starting the new pack, will the birth control be effective again? If anyone can help me, i'd appreciate it sooo much. Thanks *

You should speak with you doctor about whether that antibiotic affects birth control pills, but definatly be safe rather than sorry!

Talk to the prescriber. After some interruption, I recommend to patients that they use an additional means of protection for one complete cycle.

That is concervative, but safe.
