It's been a while since i've posted here, but i thought I'd see what kind of feedback i get on this topic i'm struggling with right now.

as the title might suggest, I've just come to terms with the fact i'm suffering from a porn addiction. i'm not going to elaborate on the tiniest points of my addiction, but in general terms I look at porn and masturbate probably an average of at least an hour a day. I often use masturbation as an escapist technique, going and surfing porn to avoid stressful situations like writing term papers, etc.

On here, I'm basically looking for advice on fighting this addiction, hopefully from some of those qualified in the medical field, as well as those who have possibly dealt with it in the past. After the stress of exams is through in just over a week I plan on getting some more professional help for this and a semi-related problem, but for now information on the matter would help. thanks

Brandye is a jewel in the rough
I am aware that internet addiction, including porn and gambling, is becoming a real diagnosis among mental health professionals. The symptoms generally are the same as other addicitons. If your need for whatever behaviour interferes with normal functioning or relationships, it is a problem.

Other than minor psychosexual issues I refer psychiatric/psychological issues to more knowledgeable professionals. The good news is that there is help available; the better news is that you recognize your need.

Seek out one who has some knowledge in the field. This is on the edge of becoming a fad diagnosis and you do not want to be the practice subject.

Good luck and glad you are back.
