Hi guys
today i just took my first pill of ortho tri-cylen lo. I've never been on birth control before so i'm new to this. Is anyone on this particular pill here..and if so i just wanted to know if there were any problems u had with it. I guess since its the lowest dose its not supposed to have that many side effects, but i just wanted to know what to look out for. thank you

I am currently on this pill.
I haven't noticed really any side effects and it seems to be working well.
I have been on it for about a year and a half.

The modern, low-dose pills have few side effects. They also more commonly do have early spotting. The big caution is that they need to be taken regularly. Because of the low dose, which is good, they do not have margin for error and a missed pill or other medication can zap them.

sorry i keep asking so many questions lol im new to this.
so i took my first pill on the first sunday of my period (which happened to be the 2nd day of bleeding). I'm usually done in 5 days..but it has been 6 so far and i show no signs of stopping...is this extended time due to the pill (im thinking yes)..and has it happened to any of you?

yes like I mentioned before when I first started mine. I had my period and started my very first pack. My period let up and I had that slight spotting you get towards the end. only thing was the slight spotting never stopped. not till it was time for my next period. Then I had a full period again, and after that everything has been fine and I start and stop right on schedule and for only like 4-5. With only maybe 2 days of heavy flow.
hope this helps!
good luck and dont worry. it takes time for your body to get used to the new cyle, so just let it do its thing
if it keeps up for awhile tho, check w/ your DR.

Exclamation

I know that the instructions for the pill say that it's fully effective after about 7 days of taking it....and i plan on using condoms in combination all the time..but if i wanted to have sex with out one should i wait an extra week or two, or is it safe after 7 days?

I waited a whole month just b/c that first month I was spotting on and off and knew that my hormones were all wacky and in no way "balanced or effective" lol.
The month gave my body time to get used to them. Just to be safe.
