my g/f has been on the pill for months now, and taken it regularly.
one of her first pills this month was 3.5 hours late... 2 weeks later *today* she thinks her period has started if anyone could give some possible reasons that would be great

No conclusion can be made from what you have given. She should ask the prescriber and will be able to figure things out. May be just one of those things. She may be on another medication; might have started a dietary supplement. There are a million possibilities. In the meantime, use alternative protection.
